Jerk Chicken, oxtails, curried goat, rice and peas and patties, oh and you can’t forget about plantains. I could go on, but I’m just going to leave your taste buds right here. All the spices, explosion of flavors and textures, is the right way to describe West Indian food. Since moving to Cleveland, we have not found a great West Indian restaurant. We have tried a few, some were there one day gone the next.
Growing up in Ontario, Canada, depending where you lived, you could get a patty at the corner store. A Jamaican patty that is. Oh they are sooo good. I’m not sure if you have ever had one. If you haven’t you need too.
Last night we ordered from, Jamerican Kitchen. http://www.jamericankitchen.com It was really good and satisfied our craving for Caribbean food.

We ordered the Jerk chicken and oxtails. Both dishes came with Rice and peas and stewed cabbage. The jerk chicken was cooked wonderfully. The oxtails were nice and sweet, just the way we like them. Both with the right amount of spice. Not too hot but not mild at all. We also order the beef patties. Honestly you can’t order from a Jamaican restaurant and not order patties. I love patties. I mean the flaky pastry, with the curried beef inside. Soooo good. We will be adding this restaurant to our rotation for sure. With my husband being half Jamaican, we could never find a good place here in Cleveland. At least one that was up to his standards. So thank you Jamerican Kitchen for the yummy dinner last night.
